Battle of Bothell 2012 ~ Thu Feb 9 2012
In 2012, the Battle will once again host some of the best lacrosse teams from California, Oregon and Washington State. These teams will compete for the Battle of Bothell Championship. Register here at http://www.battleofbothell.com/registration.html
Further, the Battle of Bothell has teamed up with the Dick's Sporting Goods Tournament Of Champions as an official qualifier. Top finishers in each qualifying division will receive bids to compete in the National Championship in Wesley Chapel, Florida. (For more information go to www.laxtoc.com)

To register with WALOA this year,
1. go to: http://www.sportability.com/spx/Leagues/League.asp?LgID=30146
Or to www.sportability.com, and enter WALOA in "Find my League."
2. Fill in all the information required. The first screen is for you if you have an account with Sportability. If not, follow the directions.
Note: If you will be officiating ONLY Middle School Games, use the "S" discount when it comes time to enter in credit card information. This will charge $40.00 for MS officials. High School Officials must pay $60.00.
2012 TRAINING
Middle School Officials Training – Those officials seeking assignment to Middle School games MUST attend training at Seattle Pacific University 29 January 2012. The location is the Bertona Building at the corner of Nickerson and Bertona. Training starts at 8:30 am and will last to 1:30. No lunch provided. Bring some food for yourself. All returning and new officials must attend the training sessions.
All officials seeking Middle School games MUST also attend three (3) regional training sessions. Locations, dates, and times will be announced at the Bertona training session.
Select regions may also have pre-season jamborees, providing live-action training prior to the season. If you are invited to attend, you should take this opportunity.
If you have not received your rulebook from USL by the clinic, rule books will be available at the Bertona training for $10.00. It is unlikely you will have gotten the books by the training date, so bring cash to the training.
High School Officials Training – All High School officials are encouraged to attend MS training as well as HS training. Many of you will fill in at the MS level, and should be advised on the specific distinctions required for each level. You will also be expected to attend three (3) training sessions pre-season at SPU Bertona Building, Feb 7-21-28. Individuals in Bellingham, Vancouver, and The Dry Side may attend via computer/video conference.

Washington Coaches Convention - January 28th, 2012 ~ Sat Jan 7 2012
This year will prove to be another tremendous learning environment for coaches of the boy's and girl's game. There is a full day program running from 9am-5pm with sessions covering mutiple topics. In addition to keynote speakers Jack Emmer (longtime head coach at Army) and Jen Larsen (head coach at Oregon), we will also have Steve Finnell (head coach at NY powerhouse Garden City HS) and Bill Cherry (head coach at NY powerhouse Manhassett HS). WALOA will be selling rule books to anyone in need; $20. Classroom setting; will start promptly at 9am. Registration website will be provided in advance to attend.

Last night the charter Board of Directors were establish for the SSL. Also the Executive Board, Bylaws, and Rules for the South Sound Lacrosse were adopted.
New Boys Youth League in the South Sound Region ~ Fri Nov 18 2011
The original youth lacrosse organization in the state Boys Youth Lacrosse of Washington (BYLW) has promoted and developed the first teams into over 200 youth teams last year. It is credited with the foundation and early the early development of every current youth program in western Washington.
With the expanding growth of players, coaches, teams, and programs the development of geographical regional leagues has become a necessity to coordinate the expanding youth lacrosse boundaries. The increasing need for coordination and volunteers will better be served with these leagues.
The eight programs that formerly were part of the BYLW have evolved into the South Sound Lacrosse League charter members.

North Kitsap Lacrosse
Olympic Mountaineers Lacrosse Club
Puyallup Lacrosse Club
Tacoma Youth Lacrosse Association

It will be the mission of the SSL league to continue the mission of BYLW by develop and promote boys youth lacrosse in the South Sound region. Honor the game by instilling the values of scholastic achievement, sportsmanship, and individual development.
We would like to thank all the past and present volunteers in BYLW for establishing youth lacrosse in Washington and helping us develop into the Leagues we are today.
SSL board appreciates the assistance and support of the GELL and SMYLA in helping us developing the SSL. We look forward to coordinating and working with GELL and SMYLA in the 2012 youth lacrosse season.
